Viewlands House is extremely fortunate to have a wonderful team of people working to look after our residents. We place great importance on providing a supportive workplace, ensuring that we pay well, and giving team members opportunities for personal development and progression. As a result, we have a very long-serving team which in turn helps provide continuity and familiarity for our residents.
We value every one of our employees and it is very important to us that our team are well looked after. Our rates of pay reflect the value we place on our colleagues and we ensure that annual pay reviews take into account cost of living increases. We have committed to paying all employees above the recognised living wage, an hourly rate substantially higher than the national minimum wage.
Our team
Management team

Kat Douglas, Manager
Kat joined the staff as a carer in 2012 having worked in the care sector for 25 years mostly with large corporate group homes. Kat is strongly aware that the residents definitely come first in an independent care home, especially a charity run home like Viewlands House. Kat has steadily progressed her career and qualifications and was rewarded with promotion to Manager in 2021.

Kathleen Watson, Deputy Manager
Kathleen joined the team in July 2023 as bank staff before working her way up to the Deputy Manager role. She brings a huge amount of experience after her 40 years in nursing and a genuine love of caring for our residents.

Louise Simpson, Admin Assistant
Louise joined the team in the summer of 2022 and has quickly become a valuable member of the team. Louise has previously worked as the administrator in the hospitality industry and so brings lots of people skills to her job at Viewlands House.

Michelle McGovern, Admin Assistant
Michelle joined the team in March 2026 after recently moving to Scotland. She has a range of experience gained from various roles across the food industry as well as the care industry.
Meet our Chair

Alistair Barn, Chair
I was appointed Chair of the Trustees in November 2021 and it’s a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of the Abbeyfield Viewlands House team.
It is very uplifting every time I come into the House to witness, first hand, the high level of care and dedication of our staff in the care of our Residents.
